UTEP edges Incarnate Word, falls to NMSU

UTEP rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh to edge Incarnate Word but dropped a 4-1 decision to New Mexico State in the New Mexico State Softball Invitational on Saturday in Las Cruces.

New Mexico State, coming off an NCAA Tournament season, swept the day — defeating Incarnate Word 11-1 and 8-0 and then stopping UTEP 4-1 in the final game of the day to go 3-0 on Saturday. The Aggies, under head coach Kathy Rodolph, won 47 games last season and won the Western Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles.

The Miners, now 2-2 on the young season, trailed Incarnate Word 3-2 entering the final frame.
