Less than two days before the season-opening basketball games, UTEP announced "early season" games will be played with no fans.
UTEP had initially indicated up to 3,000 fans would be allowed in games, then, as of Monday afternoon, declined to respond to repeated inquiries if fans would be allowed in light of El Paso's COVID surge.
The school issued a press release at 5:10 p.m. Monday saying no fans would be allowed in Wednesday's doubleheader that features the women playing New Mexico State at 1 p.m. and the men playing UT-Permian Basin at 7 p.
