If nothing changes in these most fluid of times, UTEP could be set to announce a Sept. 5 home opener against Stephen F. Austin in the coming days.
Multiple sources indicated that while nothing is finalized, an announcement could be made later in the week for a game that would replace the cancelled home opener against Texas Tech.
That would be consistent with athletic director Jim Senter, who said Sunday the final three opponents could be announced this week.
While the FCS has cancelled football, several schools in the Southland Conference are moving forward with improvised schedules.
