It is October in August for UTEP basketball players.
The Miners begin 10 days of practice sessions Saturday morning in preparation for their Aug. 15-20 exhibition trip to Costa Rica. And those 10 days of practice are probably worth more than the three exhibition games they will play in Costa Rica.
One Miner, though, has left campus before even becoming a Miner.
Roderick Williams, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward out of Los Angeles, has decided not to stay with the team.
"Roderick drove in with his mom, we had breakfast on a Sunday morning," UTEP coach Tim Floyd said.
