UTEP Coach Tim Floyd announced on Wednesday that Joey St. Pierre has signed a national letter of intent to join the Miner basketball team for the 2017-18 season.
A 6-10, 280-pound center, St. Pierre played in 14 games for Richmond-Burton High School in Richmond, Ill. last season. He averaged 13.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks with three double-doubles. His top performance was against Woodstock High School, as he tallied 26 points and 17 rebounds. He was regarded as the no. 11 player in the state of Illinois by ESPN. He missed the second half of the season after undergoing kidney surgery.
