UTEP basketball coach Rodney Terry hires ex-San Diego head coach Lamont Smith as assistant

San Diego coach Lamont Smith was reportedly arrested on suspicion of domestic violence on Saturday. According to 10 News, Smith is facing charges of domestic violence, assault with force likely to commit great bodily injury and false imprisonment. Time

Rodney Terry and UTEP have given Lamont Smith a second chance — a second chance at the game he loves, the profession he loves.

Terry, UTEP's new head basketball coach, has named the 42-year-old Smith as his top assistant coach. Smith is a native Texan, a veteran assistant coach and, most recently, the head coach at the University of San Diego for the past three seasons.
