EUGENE, Ore. — UTEP alum Samantha Hall achieved one of her big goals Monday at the World Athletics Championships. She was able to savor the moment and have fun.
The Jamaican discus thrower, who graduated from UTEP in 2017 after a record-setting career, entered her first major championship essentially seeded last in the 30-person field. She finished 27th in the qualifying round for Tuesday's finals after overcoming some early nerves, throwing 186-feet, 11-inches.
"It's my first Championships. I'm grateful for the experience and Go Miners!," said Hall, who holds the UTEP school record in the discus. "It wasn't my best but I'm grateful for it.
