The UTEP volleyball team won't be one of two teams in the nation to finish December with a win.
The Miners can take consolation in having their best season, which came to an end with a 15-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-17 loss to UNLV in the NIVC semifinals. UTEP finished 24-8.
The match started off brilliantly for UTEP, which outhit the Rebels .538 to .154 in a first set they dominated 25-15, but after that UNLV was a model of offensive efficiency.
UTEP finished with 51 kills to UNLV's 47, but also had more attacking errors, 29-13, and UNLV had an 11-2 advantage in blocks.
