The UTEP men's basketball team isn't far away from being one of the elite teams in Conference USA.
UAB's already there, which they proved down the stretch of a hard-fought 69-66 road victory Saturday night.
UTEP led 66-65 inside the final minute after Keonte Kennedy scored on a drive, but UAB's star Jordan Walker scored on a drive through traffic to give his team the lead with 55 seconds remaining. Kennedy, in his first game back in two months after an injury, couldn't get a 3-pointer to fall.
Walker made two free throws with 14 seconds left, giving him to 22 points for the night.
