UAB men shut down UTEP, win defensive struggle 63-51

The UTEP men's basketball team's up-and-down season actually found a middle ground.

The Miners did some good things against Conference USA-leading UAB, but like everyone in the league, found offense hard to come by. The result was a 63-51 loss that ran the Blazers' C-USA record to 8-1 while dropping UTEP to 4-7. UTEP is 1-5 on the road in league play.

How it went

The Miners held UAB to 42 percent from the field but managed to make 34 percent of their own attempts, a number not far below typical for Blazer opponents.

After giving up the game's first six points, UTEP spend most of the rest of the game on a treadmill until UAB opened up some space late.
