UTEP's offense taking on No. 24 Florida Atlantic's defense always looked like a bad matchup for the Miners.
Indeed, it was terrible.
UTEP turned the ball over on six of it first eight possessions Saturday night at the Don Haskins Center, went the first 6:45 without a point and finished with 15 turnovers and two assists in a 67-59 men's basketball loss.
The Miners shot 31 percent, including 3-of-16 3-pointers, never got closer than six points and rarely were within single figures until late as they fell to 11-9 overall and 4-5 in Conference USA. FAU, looking as good as its ranking, went to 19-1 with its 18th consecutive victory and is 9-0 in league play.
