RUIDOSO, N.M. — The fall’s fourth practice at Camp Ruidoso was when the grind set in. Several spirited scuffles in a 15-minute stretch early in practice finally tested coach Sean Kugler’s patience.
At one point, after everything had settled down, he went over to team leaders Alvin Jones and Dante Lovilotte and implored them to “weed anyone out” who needed weeding out.
From there, UTEP pulled together and had a good practice.
“They didn’t start with great energy. The coaches took care of that and it ended up being a good practice,” Kugler said. “The defense won overall, but the offense had moments, too.
