Current UTEP hurdler Tobi Amusan and former Miner greats Churanday Martina and Blessing Okagbare will make up the contingent of sprinters with UTEP connections competing in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Summer Games.
This will be the fourth Olympics for the 32-year-old Martina and his second for the Netherlands. In the 2012 Olympics in London, he was the first finisher not from either Jamaica or the US in the 100 and 200, where he finished sixth and fifth respectively. He will run those two events as well as the 400-meter relay in this Olympics.
In the 2004 and '08 Martina was the flag bearer for Netherlands Antilles, which disbanded its Olympic federation after 2010.
