Tailback Deion Hankins, who was off to a big start against New Mexico State before being knocked out of the game in the first half with an undisclosed injury, was not at practice Tuesday, one day after coach Dana Dimel indicated he was doubtful for Bethune-Cookman.
Hankins had participated last week in a red no-hit jersey, indicating a minor injury. Dimel said Hankins' injury isn't long term and he should be back for the Boise State game in two weeks. Given how well Ronald Awatt ran the ball Saturday, UTEP won't feel a need to rush Hankins back.
