At it’s surface, the UTEP men’s basketball team summer camps are about teaching youth basketball players across the city skills and making them better at the game.
There are also other purposes for the camps — the general one for ages 10 to 18 runs July 25-28 and the one specific to high schoolers is July 29 — that speak to coach Joe Golding’s vision for his program.
The camps aren’t just for kids. They are for his players, too, as he looks to deepen bonds with El Paso.
“One of the biggest things we talked about in the press conference when we first got here over a year ago was to get involved in the community,” Golding said.
