Sun Bowl renovation hits home stretch El Paso Times
The $15 million, three-year Sun Bowl renovation is in the home stretch, it's completion now one of the most likely aspects surrounding the scheduled Sept. 5 opener against Texas Tech.
"As of right now, we're all set, it's going great," said Daniel Garcia, UTEP's assistant athletic director for facilities. "Before Sept. 5. Minus the COVID — we had to play that safe — the construction has gone well."
The Sun Bowl construction, like all other construction in El Paso, did not halt because of the coronavirus.
On Thursday, June 18, there was still a scaffolding over the middle of the press box, but the fence surrounding what will be the luxury boxes has been removed and all the concrete has been poured.
