The UTEP men's basketball team knocked off Wyoming, 76-65, on Saturday night for third place in the WestStar Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational.
UTEP is now 5-6 on the season, while Wyoming is 3-9. The two teams were former rivals in the Western Athletic Conference.
The Miners are off until Jan. 3 when they visit UTSA to begin Conference USA play.
Guard Evan Gilyard led UTEP with 20 points, guard Nigel Hawkins scored 13 points, post Efe Odigie added 12 points, guard Jordan Lathon scored 10 points and forward Paul Thomas scored 10 points for the Miners.
