UTEP made a chase at the end. But it was too little, too late, too weak.
Southern Miss easily held off the late Miner rally to take a 73-65 win in front of 2,161 in Reed Green Arena Saturday afternoon in Hattiesburg, Miss.
It was UTEP's 12th straight loss and 13th loss of the season. The 12-game losing skid is the longest in one season for the Miners since the 1934-35 season. The Miners are now 2-13 on the season and 0-3 in Conference USA play. Southern Miss got its second consecutive win after nine straight losses and the Golden Eagles are now 5-10 on the season, 2-1 in conference play.
