The UTEP football team hasn't had many springs like the one that begins Tuesday and neither has coach Dana Dimel.
The Miners return up to eight starters on each side of the ball from a team with a winning record, they have an incumbent quarterback and they have 11 newcomer signees who will participate in spring practice. Some of those 11 are expected to compete immediately for the few starting spots up for grabs.
"This is the most I've ever had, 11 mid-year transfers," coach Dana Dimel said. "Coming off success is nice, coming back with a lot of experienced returners, as much experience as you could have, then bringing in as many mid-year guys as I've ever brought into a program, we're in a good spot to improve.
