The UTEP football team fired every bullet in a 45-43 loss to North Texas on Friday night that ended their season.
In the bitter end, there weren't enough bullets.
The Miners came in without four of their five starting defensive backsand played without quarterback Gavin Hardison, who was "unfit to play" and didn't make the trip and Hardison's absence was not for disciplinary reasons.
Through all that, with Calvin Brownholtz getting his first extended playing time at quarterback, UTEP led at the half, battled through the fourth quarter and gave itself a chance before finally wearing down.
