Thursday's 82-62 loss for the UTEP women's basketball team at Rice Thursday looked much like their other recent road games in a run of struggles.
The Miners had trouble making shots, they dug an early hole and quickly lost contact in their sixth consecutive road loss. The setback dropped them to 6-11 in Conference USA and ensured they will have to play a preliminary round game against UTSA in the C-USA tournament Tuesday as a No. 6 seed.
Rice never trailed, took a double-digit lead by the middle of the first quarter and held UTEP at arm's length the rest of the way.
