Conference USA football is heading for mid-week October games for the next five years, according to a report from the Sports Business Journal.
Per the report, most October games will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with a handful of games on Thursday and Friday. Every game will be on one of those four days of the week. This is the model the Mid-American Conference has used and billed as “MACtion.”
The five-year deal with ESPN and CBS Sports will reportedly pay each of the 10 league schools, including UTEP and New Mexico State, $750,000 a year, which is less than what MAC and Sun Belt schools make.
