The Conference USA basketball tournament will include eight men's and eight women's team next season, down from 12 each, according to Brett McMurphy of Stadium College Football Insider.
C-USA just concluded its annual summer meetings but didn't mention any changes in the tournament in a brief press release. UTEP said it would not comment on the smaller league tournament until the league made an official announcement.
Cutting the league tournament to eight teams would mean the UTEP men would not have qualified for the last three tournaments, as they finished 12th, 14th and 11th in the last three C-USA regular seasons.
