On paper, rebuilding a secondary that lost three starters is the one big item on the UTEP defense's August to-do list.
That often seems to be the case with the Miners, who have a tested formula of plugging in instant help from the transfer market and not missing a beat.
That's the hope again this year after making transfer defensive back help the focus of the last recruiting class, and while there is still competition going on — pretty much the only spot on the roster where there are real position battles — confidence is high that UTEP can get back to the high level it was at last year.
