The UTEP volleyball team was on the rise before Paulina Perez Rosas transferred in last season from Central Florida, but in many ways she’s a symbol of what the Miners are building.
She’s one of three transfers starting for a 15-4 UTEP team that already is one of the program’s best-ever teams, and while her connection with coach Ben Wallis predates his arrival at UTEP three years ago, she’s not the type of recruit the Miners used to attract.
Perez Rosas was part of two conference titles at UCF, she’s a 6-foot outside hitter with elite serve-receive skill, she’s the type of player who can star for a Conference USA-championship caliber team.
