Under slightly different circumstances, the 146 yards Parkland's Deion Hankins churned out Friday night was so typically excellent, so amazingly normal for him, it might have gotten lost in the Matadors' stunning 53-14 victory over Chapin.
Instead, Hankins' evening took center stage because of the 5,388 career yards that came before it. Add that up and it comes to 5,534, enough to break the 14-year-old El Paso County record held by Montwood's Edward Britton, who gained 5,524 yards in a career that went from 2002-04.
