The Sun Bowl stadium roared with excitement, packed from top to bottom, leaving no seat unoccupied. In the 90th Sun Bowl game, El Paso and Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl hosted the 19th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-3) and 21st ranked Oregon State Beavers (8-5).
Over 48,000 people were in attendance leading to a sellout and largest crowd the bowl game has seen since 2011. This would mark Oregon State’s third appearance in the Sun Bowl and Notre Dame’s second. The first game in 2010 saw the Sun Bowl’s record attendance broken with 54,021 people.
Prior to the game, the story was about the number of players who chose not to play or who weren’t able to play for various reasons.
