The benefits of 10 days of altitude training will wear off fairly quickly, but the team did notice a big change from Ruidoso's 6,900 feet to El Paso's 3,800 after its first day of practice at Glory Field.
"I'm glad to be back. It's easier to breathe," Aaron Jones said. "I thought I was in great shape. We did all that conditioning, then that first day in Ruidoso I was out of breath. Now I feel like I'm in shape again."
The rest of this week is still considered part of camp, then starting next week a scout team will be selected and given green jerseys, and the prep work for New Mexico State will hit full speed.
