The most positive thing to come out of Saturday's 28-7 loss to Louisiana Tech was UTEP's rediscovery of Hayden Plinke and the tight end corps.
He came in with four catches for 32 yards, then added eight catches for 66 yards and a touchdown Saturday. On the touchdown drive, his catches converted a fourth-and-8 and later a third-and-goal from the 10. He was targeted 13 times and had a first-down catch called back by a holding penalty.
Tight end Kent Taylor, who came in with two catches for minus-8 yards, also had a grab for seven yards.
