The UTEP women's basketball team's home-game tightrope act came to a crashing end in a predictable way.
In a 67-59 loss to the Mean Green, the Miners put themselves in position entering the stretch run, but ultimately a good North Texas team that went to 5-0 in Conference USA hit more big shots at the key times.
With the Miners ahead 51-50 early in the fourth quarter, North Texas scored on eight of its last 12 possessions to hand UTEP its third consecutive loss. The Miners fell to 2-3 in C-USA, with the three losses coming against league unbeatens, heading into Saturday's rematch with North Texas.
