A good sign in any exhibition scrimmage is when a team leans on someone old and someone new.
That was the formula for a retooled UTEP women's basketball team in a 66-45 win Saturday against Western New Mexico that marked the first time on the floor in a Miner uniform for six of UTEP's 10 players.
The old hand was the ever-reliable senior Jordan Alexander, as the power forward scored a workmanlike 17 points to go with six rebounds, two steals and a drawn charge.
