LAS CRUCES - Here is the state of affairs for the UTEP football team: Their leading pass catcher in a thoroughly awful 41-14 loss to New Mexico State Saturday night was Shamad Lomax, with three grabs and one touchdown.
This was a problem because Lomax plays for the Aggies.
Nothing at all was pretty about the Miners' play in the first game with Brian Natkin as offensive coordinator, but the passing line for Ryan Metz and Mark Torrez was telling: 10-of-34 for 92 yards with five interceptions.
