A 20-hour postponement didn't slow down a UTEP women's basketball team that is peaking at a good time.
The Miners wrapped a 37-4 run around the first and second quarters Friday afternoon, removing all doubt about the outcome early on the way to an 88-61 victory that moved their Conference USA record to 10-5 and solidified their hold on third place.
UTEP grew the lead to 79-43 heading into the fourth quarter, enabling it to rest its starters for the quick turnaround to Saturday night's game at North Texas. Friday's game at UAB was originally scheduled for Thursday but was pushed back because of severe weather in Birmingham, and Saturday's tip against North Texas was pushed back three and a half hours to accommodate UTEP's travel.
