Through recent years, the UTEP way in men's basketball is to bring in starter-ready transfers and ride them as far as it can.
In the Miners' last 20 games, dating back to the second contest of the Conference USA season, there have been 100 starts. Of those, 99 have been from transfers. One has been from freshman center Ze'Rik Onyema, in the C-USA tournament against Old Dominion, and he needed one possession to get a slam dunk.
Coach Joe Golding's first season, which continues Saturday in The Basketball Classic against Western Illinois, has been a rousing success.
