No one gets too excited, knowing neither wins nor losses are on the line. Still, it can be a learning experience — for coaches, for players, even for the fans in the stands. And UTEP coach Tim Floyd hopes what he might have learned on this November Saturday afternoon holds true.
UTEP scrambled from behind again and again and finally found a way to get a win, an 87-85 overtime win, against Division 2 Alaska-Fairbanks Saturday in the Don Haskins Center. It was not a showcase and it was nothing spectacular but it was a win — albeit a win that does not even count.
