A new year is here and so it is out with the old, in with the new.
At least, that is what UTEP coach Tim Floyd hopes — because the old is an eight-game losing skid and a record of 2-10. The new? Well, only time will tell us that tale.
But the new year begins Sunday afternoon, a 2 p.m. MST date with UTSA in the Convocation Center in San Antonio. The old is the non-conference schedule. And Sunday, the first day of 2017, brings the opening of the new season, the Conference USA season.
The Miners have shown signs of a pulse in their last two losses — a 62-57 setback to UC-Irvine in the final game of the Sun Bowl tournament and a 79-70 loss to New Mexico State Friday night in Las Cruces.
