It has been happening around here for almost a century. And, for much of that century, it has been something of a happening.
UTEP will open another basketball season Saturday night, a 7 p.m. tipoff with Louisiana College in the Don Haskins Center. It begins the university's 96th year of basketball and, since a coach named Don Haskins blew in here like an Oklahoma tornado back in 1961, it has been something special, something of excitement, something of pride.
