Right now, UTEP's winningest athletic team is 20-2, clearly the best college squad at its sport in the state of Texas despite only being in its second year, playing six miles from campus and not offering player scholarships.
Like so many things about hockey in El Paso, UTEP's wildly successful club hockey team actually makes quite a bit more sense on the ice than it does on a map.
It's a program perfectly set up to build on the success of the city's junior team, the El Paso Rhinos, and be dominant in the Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference.
