UTEP finished ninth in the 14-team field at the NCAA West Region Golf Tournament on Wednesday at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash.
USC, the nation's top ranked team, won the event with a three-day total of 849. Kent State was second at 855, Florida State third at 862, Alabama fourth, also at 862, and Penn State was fifth at 863. The top five teams in each of six regions moves on to the NCAA National Tournament.
Texas A&M was sixth at 867, Washington was seventh at 869, San Diego State was eighth at 882, UTEP was ninth at 884 and Michigan was 10th at 886, Michigan State was 11th at 896, Seattle was 12th at 897, Marquette was 13th at 899 and Bryant was 14th at 953.
