With their season on the line, the UTEP women's basketball team showed a supreme sense of the moment.
Playing for a berth in the Conference USA tournament against a Florida International team that a month ago was better than them, the Miners looked very much like a squad that wants to keep playing, keep improving and give a special ending to their only senior, Sparkle Taylor.
The Miners unleashed an early 28-4 run to take permanent control, scored the first 20 points of the third quarter to leave their fans standing for more than six minutes of it and won in an 88-47 laugher that marked the second biggest margin of victory in a conference game (41; they won by 44 in 2012 against Houston).
