A season that began with the rumblings of disaster is now tip-toeing along that slippery precipice of hope.
UTEP began this season 2-1, then staggered through a dozen straight losses and it seemed almost as though storm clouds were floating in the rafters of the Don Haskins Center. The final three games of that 12-game losing skid were Conference USA games. Since that time, though, the Miners have used defense and rebounding to win four of their last five games. And, for the sake of a disaster-movie-beginning at Western Kentucky, this team could be on a five-game winning streak.
