Michael Saruni's run of bad luck took another turn, as Kenyan politics will keep the UTEP star out of the World Championships, which begin Friday in London.
He appeared to book a trip, along with medal favorite and UTEP teammate Emmanuel Korir, after finishing third in the 800 meter dash during Kenyan trials, which Korir won, but he was dropped from the team last week despite earlier assurances he would be taken.
The issue was that Kenya got two wild card entries, reining Diamond League champion Ferguson Rotich, who was fourth behind Saruni at the Kenya trials, and reigning world champion David Rudisha.
