The Ryan Metz era is on pace to begin again for UTEP on Oct. 22 in San Antonio.
For the third time in a season-plus, the sophomore Metz will take the reins of an offense that has been sputtering with the hope he can bring the spark he often does while eliminating some mistakes and inconsistencies.
The first look this season, in the 28-7 loss to Louisiana Tech, was promising as he completed 71 percent of his passes before suffering a concussion that is still limiting him. That was enough to win him the job, and the expectation is he will be a full go by next week.
