Rock Bottom USA had a new visitor on a beautiful, rain-splattered December Wednesday night.
The welcome wagons were out for UTEP.
Maryland-Eastern Shore, a team with a 1-11 record (yes, with but one win), dropped the Miners 71-66 in the opening round of the WestStar Bank Don Haskins Sun Bowl Basketball Classic in front of 5,333 stunned Miner fans in the Don Haskins Center.
UTEP will meet UC-Irvine Thursday at 5 p.m. in the consolation game while Maryland-Eastern Shore moves into the championship game against Akron at 7 p.m.
In fairness, Maryland-Eastern Shore is not your ordinary 1-11 team.
