Locomotive welcome back Mechack Jérôme Wochit
The special moment turned ugly so quickly.
Mechack Jérôme, second captain for perhaps the greatest Haitian national team ever, was experiencing that unique thrill of representing his country in the Gold Cup on June 16, eight minutes into the opening game against Bermuda.
Then the 29-year-old defender, already 10 games into a first season with the El Paso Locomotive that established him as a star, felt something go very wrong in his right leg. He felt his Achilles tendon rip.
"It was hard, it was my first time injured," Jerome said.
