The El Paso Locomotive didn't get the result they wanted in a 0-0 home draw with New Mexico on Saturday night, but realistically they got the result they needed.
Though the Locomotive failed to clinch first in Group C, the point kept their commanding four-point lead with two games to play. Now they will wait to learn the health of Omar Salgado, who suffered a first-half knee injury and was helped to the locker room.
El Paso had 60 percent of possession and far more chances than New Mexico in a chippy match, but couldn't convert several good opportunities as their five-game winning streak ended.
