Dana Dimel inherited a menu of problems when he came to UTEP. On defense, the biggest was glaringly obvious: The Miners graduated their top three tacklers, all at the linebacker position, and had to start over at that pivotal spot.
Dimel can only wish every issue was so easy to fix.
Over the summer, UTEP landed graduate transfer A.J. Hotchkins from Oregon via Riverside City College, plugged him in and Saturday the results were reasonably spectacular.
