The UTEP women's basketball team had chances to come away with a defining win against Rice on Saturday at the Don Haskins Center.
They game them away in a 72-69 loss.
Two unforced turnovers in the final 22 seconds when UTEP was trailing by two points, part of five turnovers in the final 3:42, prevented the Miners from having a good look at a tie or a victory in a game that had 10 second-half lead changes and dropped them to 5-6 in Conference USA play.
What they said
The final turnover, an over-and-back, came with 12 seconds remaining on an inbounds after a timeout when Katia Gallegos caught Avery Crouse's pass inches in front of midcourt before her momentum carried her into the backcourt.
