The UTEP football team returned to spring practice from a week off and coach Sean Kugler liked where his team picked back up.
"A good practice, great focus, great energy," Kugler said. "There was a 10-day layover; you want to see what the retention is. There were not a lot of busts, not a lot of missed assignments and errors. They were ready to go."
The team will be back in shells (shoulder pads and helmets) Wednesday, then scrimmage on Friday.
Sitting tight
The highlight of Monday's hour and a half practice was a touchdown pass in the two-minute drill from Ryan Metz to transfer tight end David Lucero, who was working with the first team.
