The UTEP men filled in one more hole on their resume Tuesday night against New Mexico: They won a game 66-63 that went to the last possession.
Jordan Lathon's driving, hanging 10 footer with 30 seconds left gave the Miners the lead, then they defended Makuach Malauch's contested 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds left.
After a pair of Bryson Williams free throws, UTEP did have to weather a review, as JaQuan Lyle's 30-foot heave was all net, but ruled after the buzzer. The review confirmed that call.
That enabled UTEP to survive on a night where they led most of the game, but had to weather 31 New Mexico free-throw attempts (they made 21) to UTEP's 11 (they made nine).
